Line and Shape Ages 5-7
Mondays Sept 29- Oct 20
10:30am-12pm
This series of 4 classes offers a deep dive into the art elements of line and shape. Students will interpret artists’ use of line and shape from art history and contemporary art. They will build their visual literacy and observational skills, learn a variety of art-making techniques, including drawing, painting, collage, and printmaking, and gain confidence in self-expression. These lessons are standards-based with an emphasis on personal, social, and emotional growth. Cross-curricular connections include geometry, symmetry, and language arts.
Design a Playground Ages 8-13
Mondays Sept 29- Oct 20
12pm-1:30pm
In this series of 4 classes, students will explore the creative process through design, line, shape, form, and space by creating drawings and utilizing paper sculpture techniques. We will examine playgrounds from around the world and discuss how we can improve our favorite playgrounds. Students will practice critical thinking, problem-solving, design thinking, and team-building skills through individual and team projects. These lessons are standards-based, with an emphasis on personal, social, and emotional growth and self-expression, as well as a focus on the elements and principles of art.
