Kindergarten students explored Line in How We Express Ourselves and again in
How We Organize Ourselves by turning their abstract lines into simple symbols through storytelling. They used a variety of techniques including painting and printmaking.
As Kindergarten students learned about homes around the world in their classrooms in Where We are in Place and Time, we focused on local traditional textiles found in homes in Qatar and parts of the Middle East. Al Sadu weaving techniques were introduced with a focus on shape and pattern. Students recreated their own Al Sadu symbols reflecting back on our Signs and Symbols UOI, How we Organize Ourselves. Students then had a go at weaving with recycled materials - also reconnecting with Sharing The Planet.
Grade 1 students explored watercolor techniques after responding to landscape art.
In How the World Works, students learned about weather patterns and connected their classroom learning to weather in art.
As Grade 2 students learned about inventions in their classrooms in Where We are in Place and Time, we focused on inventions in art. From paint to papermaking to photography, we explored how and when these art processes were invented. In photography, students learned about light sensitive paper and created photograms.
